Career Option: Being a Recruiter in Japan

This is from Being A Broad, a Japan-based organization geared to help female foreigners living in Japan. It’s a tremendous resource for foreigners living in Japan, particularly foreign women. They’re putting on a career seminar soon (March 28th), and this is from the announcement. For more details you can go here

“It’s unfortunate that the recruitment industry in Japan tends to have a rather male-oriented image, as there are plenty of foreign women not only working in, but also managing, recruitment services, and having a great time in doing so! For outgoing, ambitious, and motivated foreign women who love working with people, recruiting can be one of the best employment options. It’s even an industry where you don’t need to speak Japanese, and there aren’t that many of those around! Also one of the highest paid positions open to foreigners in Japan, working in recruitment in Japan can be an excellent way to gain financial independence and security. With many Tokyo-based companies having offices throughout the world, working in recruitment in Tokyo could be
the start of a new adventure!”

As mentioned above, there are few options for non-Japanese speaking foreigners to work in Japan. A few others include Teaching English, Shipping, Financial Services (particularly marketing financial products to foreigners in Japan), and other types of positions marketing to foreigners or companies.

As with working in any country, it’s best to learn the local language, but in the interim there are options that can keep you gainfully employed.

To your success,
