Hunt for work during the holiday slow down

Many jobseekers slow down the job-hunt during the Thanksgiving/ Christmas holiday season, however that is exactly when you should kick it into high gear. Many companies implement new strategies at the beginning of the year when the new budgets are out; as such, many recruiters are operating in stealth mode sourcing and interviewing talent for the 1st quarter in the new year. Stay ahead of the curve and create as many potential employer relationships as possible.

And while we are on the subject, create a database of recruiters and stay in touch with them from time to time. The job market is going to change in the near future and when it does, your network of recruiters will prove a very advantageous tool. Once employed, keep an ear to the ground to monitor the market value of your skillset. The best (and perhaps only) real job security one can have is knowing that you can go somewhere else.
